Chapters opened in July 2019 with the aim of supporting small scale producers & other independent businesses from Hay-on-Wye and the surrounding areas. Creating a sustainable restaurant is at the heart of all decision making.

The key aspect for us is that everyone feels welcome and it is important that people know that when they enjoy a meal here they are also supporting the local economy with local produce being at the centre of our menus” Chef Mark McHugo

“I’ve never had so much fun eating” has to be my favourite quote from my brand new husband tucked into yet another amazing culinary creation that appeared in front of him. We booked Chapters for our after wedding meal on a compelling hunch after meeting the wonderful, young, adventurous and clearly extremely talented couple who run it. Their dedication to local, seasonal food is right up our street and each dish was prepared with care, attention to detail and made all our senses sing.
We loved the vibe in the restaurant, which was perfect for 20 of us. They went above and beyond at every stage. Aside from the extraordinary food, which has to be the main highlight, the best bit was how relaxed and unfussy it all felt. There was an ease to how the food was prepared and a gentle confidence in how it was presented. It never felt contrived or twee but we felt very well looked after. Thank you all so much for making a very special day even more memorable. We’ll be back soon for date nights
